Transfer Rumours: West Ham Back in for Brazilian Striker?

It looks like West Ham’s transfer rumour mill is spinning once again, with Brazilian striker Yuri Alberto back on the radar. Fans may remember that last summer, Tim Steidten, West Ham’s technical director, flew to Brazil in an attempt to sign the Corinthians forward. Unfortunately, the trip didn’t result in a deal, and Tim returned to London with no Brazilians and no duty-free goods in tow. Fast forward to now, and West Ham and Southampton are reportedly keeping tabs on the 23-year-old Brazilian international for a potential January move?

Yuri Alberto has had a solid season so far, making 20 starts in the Brazilian league, contributing four goals and four assists. He’s also impressed in international competitions, with six goals and eight assists in the Copa Sudamericana. His experience with Brazil’s youth teams and his recent call-up to the senior squad in March 2023 have made him a hot prospect, with clubs around the world—including some in the Saudi Pro League—interested in securing his services.

Alberto himself has expressed a desire to play in Europe, particularly in the Premier League. He recently said, “It’s my dream to play in Europe, to compete in the Premier League, but everything has its time.” With Corinthians reportedly willing to sell in January, West Ham may have a better chance to land the striker during the upcoming transfer window.
