MOYES LOOKING AT A REPLACEMENT FOR CORNET

Despite being absent for most of the season so far, Max Cornet remains joint-top for assists at West Ham in all competitions this season with three, all of which have come in the Europa Conference League.

On top of that, he has also won two penalties and has controversially had a goal disallowed in September’s defeat to Chelsea.

A impact player, a player we have desperately missed this season. A player who bridges the gap between our midfield and striker.

The former Burnley man has missed over three months of action since suffering a calf issue on his full Premier League debut for West Ham against Wolverhampton Wanderers back in October.

He was very active on social media with his training regime and did return to training with the squad on his return to full fitness but his calf injury kept flaring up. This led to the winger heading to France to speak with specialists.

David Moyes updated us on Max Cornet’s situation inbetween the meetings with Leeds & Brentford

“I’d like to give you a clearer update but I don’t think I can,” .

“I’ve not asked how his injection went and they’ve not come and told me. I’ll need to check. He’s been to Paris to get an injection to try to free up the fibres and the tendons.”

Moyes admits he and the club may consider signing a new winger this month depending on the severity of Maxwel Cornet’s calf injury.

Asked if a longer lay-off for Cornet would make Moyes consider signing a replacement, Moyes admits he is a big loss and admits the club would consider looking into alternatives, despite it being a tricky window.

“We brought him in to get more goals, because he can play off the left, off the right, centre-forward at times,. We brought him in as another attacking player so yeah it could be something we look into but the market’s not easy. It’s something we could consider.”

West Ham have acted already by recalling Armstong Okoflex. The young winger spent the first half of the season in the Championship with Swansea City, but cannot go back out on loan again this term having already played for West Ham’s first-team this season in the Europa Conference League in August.
