Well not in January.
David Moyes moved quickly to put on paper exactly the what the situation is with Declan Rice this winter.
23 Year old and West Ham captain Declan Rice has been the subject of transfer rumours for the last few seasons and why on earth would they stop there.
Rice who’s contract expires in the summer of 2024 (but West Ham have an option to extend his deal by a further 12 months) has reportedly rejected the Hammers advances of a new contract which would make him the biggest paid star in West Ham’s history.
But according to Moyes, Declan Rice is going nowhere (For the time being).
Moyes Said
“The transfer bit, I’m sure you can put away because that won’t be happening in January, that’s for sure, and it never was. What I will say is I would have loved to have thought we could have wrapped Declan up and given him time but overall, he’s such a huge influence and also the level of the game,”
After the FA Cup victory over Brentford, Moyes was asked if he was tempted to rest Rice ahead of the game, but he quickly made it clear what his intentions were for the competition and that he would need his best players to do it.
“I’ve got to say, he’s such an important player, it’s hard to go without him, but we’ve always tried to give Dec a good recovery time. I’d like to win the FA Cup if it’s possible and for me to have the best chance of doing that, I probably need to play Declan Rice.”
Moyes Added
“He wants to play all the games. He’s whispering in my ear, ‘Am I playing in Europe?’ I’m saying, ‘I’m thinking about not playing you’. And he’s saying, ‘Well I’d rather start’,”
One thing for sure is we cant fault Declan’s enthusiasm nor his effort on and off the park.
At least we will continue to see this world class talent in Claret and Blue for a further 6 month
