David Moyes has plenty of big decisions to make this weekend, possibly the biggest one of them is whether to bring Pablo Fornals back in to the starting XI.
Moyes Impressed?
Not only does he offer a tricky and clinical option in the midfield, but he can be tenacious and when the press is against you, there is no other player who will fight to win that ball back for the team.
Debates have taken place on what is Fornals’ best position, but as of late a free flowing role has really suited Pablo.
Deserves A Chance?
Having been ‘harshly’ benched for our clash with Crystal Palace after his standout performance in the midweek victory over FCSB the week before, where he scored two goals, The Spaniard was at his creative best in this game, he had 65 touches with 95% success rate and two key passes
The brace made that three goals for the season , but Fornals added to that tally on Wednesday evening v Blackburn Rovers in the 3rd Round of the Carabao Cup.
Taking Notice
Even in defeat Pablo’s individual performance may of caught the eye of Moyes.
Playing 77 minutes, scoring 1 goal, having 56 touches with a 86% pass completion, he was successful with 100% of his dribble attempts, 100% of his long balls, he won 3 from his 4 attempts at ground duels and added 4 key passes. Tough to ignore?
I think when the going gets tough we need players who fully understand the pressures of being at this club, players that will get down and dirty to ensure we get a result, players that will run themselves into the ground.
I believe Pablo could be that man. Only if utilised properly.
